Track Lighting Installation in Pittsburgh

Track and rail lighting for kitchens, art, hallways and sloped ceilings, with LED heads and smooth dimming.

Track Lighting Installation for Pittsburgh Homes

Track lighting puts light right where you want it from a single power feed. You can slide, aim and add heads as your room changes, which makes it a great fit for kitchens, art walls, long hallways and sloped attic ceilings where cans are hard to place.

Renaissance Electric has installed home lighting since 1997. We also install recessed lighting and handle light fixture replacement, and every installation carries our lifetime workmanship warranty.

Signs Track Lighting Fits Your Room

  • A kitchen island or counter in its own shadow
  • Art, photos or shelves you want to light up
  • A long, dark hallway with one ceiling light
  • Sloped attic or dormer ceilings that make cans hard
  • An old track with yellowed halogen heads that run hot
  • Ceilings you'd rather not cut many holes in

How Our Track Lighting Installation Works

1. Walkthrough

We look at the room, the ceiling and the switch you use.

2. Layout

Track or rail type, length and head count planned for the space.

3. Power Off

We shut off and test the circuit before any work.

4. Feed and Mount

Power fed to the track, which is secured to the ceiling.

5. Heads and Dimmer

LED heads set and a dimmer matched to them.

6. Aim and Test

We aim each head with you and test every switch.

Home Track Lighting We Install

Kitchen Track Lighting

Heads aimed at counters, the island and the sink.

Art and Accent Lighting

Adjustable heads that light art, photos and shelves.

Hallway Track Lighting

Even light down long halls without many ceiling holes.

Monorail and Flexible Rail

Rails you can bend or curve to follow a room.

Sloped Ceiling Track

Tracks with angled heads for attics and dormers.

LED Dimmers and Switches

Dimmers rated for LED so heads fade without flicker.

Track Lighting Layout, Ceilings and Dimmers

A good track layout starts with what you want to light. Over a kitchen counter, heads sit a little out from the cabinets so your head doesn't shadow the work. For art, heads aim at about a 30 degree angle to cut glare on glass.

Most tracks run from one feed, often the box where an old ceiling light was. On a sloped ceiling we use the right connectors and heads that swivel enough to point straight down.

LED heads need a dimmer rated for LED, or you get hum and flicker. See our dimmer guide. Swapping a fixture rarely needs a permit, while a new circuit gets one from your borough, township or the City of Pittsburgh. Contact us for a free estimate.

What Affects Track Lighting Cost

We quote after we see the room, and the estimate is free. These move the number:

  • Track or rail length and type
  • Number of LED heads
  • Ceiling height and slope
  • Using an existing box or a new feed
  • LED rated dimmers and switches
  • Plaster, drywall or open beams

Lighting Guides From Our Electricians

Track Lighting Installation Questions

Can track lighting go where my old ceiling light is?

Usually, yes. Most tracks feed from the existing ceiling box.

What is the difference between track and rail lighting?

Track is a straight channel. Monorail and flexible rail can bend and curve, and often hang a little lower.

Is track lighting good for a kitchen?

Yes. Heads aimed at counters and the island cut shadows where you work.

Can you put track lighting on a sloped ceiling?

Yes. We use sloped ceiling connectors and swivel heads so light points down. See our sloped ceiling guide.

Can I dim LED track heads?

Yes, with a dimmer rated for LED and heads made to dim. We match the two so there is no flicker.

Can you update my old halogen track?

Often we swap in LED heads that fit your track. If the track is worn or a dead brand, we replace it.

Track lighting or recessed lights?

Track adjusts and needs fewer holes. Recessed is cleaner overhead. We help you pick on a free visit.

Do I need a permit for track lighting?

A swap on an existing box usually doesn't. A new circuit does, and we pull that permit and schedule the inspection.
