How do I know my home needs an upgrade?

Breakers that trip often, lights that dim when the AC starts, a fuse box, warm or buzzing panels, and no room for new circuits are the common signs. See our panel upgrade page for more.

What's the difference between a panel upgrade and a service upgrade?

A panel upgrade replaces the breaker box. A service upgrade increases the power coming into the house, usually 100 to 200 amp, and often includes the meter base and service line.

Do I need a permit?

Yes, panel, service and rewiring work needs an electrical permit. We pull it with the City of Pittsburgh or your township and are there for the inspection.

Will my power be off?

For panel and service work, usually for part of a day. We schedule any Duquesne Light disconnect ahead so you know when.

Can I add an EV charger without upgrading?

Sometimes. We do a load check first. Many homes can add an EV charger on the existing service.

How is the cost figured?

By the amp rating, the condition of the existing wiring, and any utility work. Every job starts with a free estimate.
